The 74th film festival opens in Cannes tonight, 6 July. A total of 60 films will be screened in the various programmes. A Bulgarian movie - “Women do cry” – will have its world premiere in the contest section “Un Certain Regard”, which offers a different view of cinema making.
The film by Vesela Kazakova and Mina Mileva reveals the clash and gender-based violence in a patriarchal society. The idea initially belongs to actress Bilyana Kazakova, who also co-wrote the screenplay. Starring in the movie, besides the three Kazakova sisters, is Iossif Surchadzhiev and Maria Bakalova. The post-production was completed in France.
