Unemployment drops down to pre-pandemic levels

Unemployment in Bulgaria continues to drop, and in June stood at 5.2%, the National Employment Agency says, a 0.5% drop compared to May, and a 3.1% drop on an annual basis (from 8.3% in June, 2020)

170,716 is the number of registered unemployed, 15,331 down on May of this year and 102, 651 or 37.6% down on May of last year.  

26,090 people started work in June, the biggest number in the processing industry – 19.7%, followed by the hospitality sector – 14.1%, trade – 14.1% and public administration – 11.2%.

Payments on the 60/40 job support anti-crisis measure continue. In June 80,000 workers received a financial subsidy from the state.
