Former State Agency for National Security (SANS) head Dimitar Georgiev has been detained by police after reports of illegal hunting in the vicinity of the village of Sushitsa near Blagoevgrad.

According to BNR information, another three people have been taken for questioning together with Georgiev, one of them a current SANS employee, the other – the owner of Vitosha Bistritsa football club, and the third – a local forestry official. Hunting weapons, large numbers of cartridges and the carcass of a wild boar have been found during a search of the vehicles of the group.

Dimitar Georgiev was dismissed from the post by President Rumen Radev in May this year on the proposal of the caretaker government.
