Surge in daily Covid-19 infections

500 is the number of newly registered coronavirus cases in the country in the past 24 hours, compared to 429 on the previous day. The positivity rate is 2.7% out of 18,652 tests performed, Single Coronavirus Information portal data show.

The number of registered active cases has gone up to 9,921 from 9,482 on the previous day.  935 patients are being treated in hospital (955 on the previous day), 89 of them are in intensive care. 14 have died over the past 24 hours and 47 have recovered.

12,520 doses of vaccine were administered on Thursday.  1,027,377 people in the country are now fully vaccinated.

According to data of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the 14-day case notification rate per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 2 weeks (up until 1 August) is 31.40. During the previous period – 12-25 July – it was 17.6. The death notification rate per 1,000,000 inhabitants remains low – 5.90.
