Belogradchik Rocks natural phenomenon as scenic backdrop for opera

Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida", Georges Bizet's "Carmen Suite", PyotrI lyich Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" and Maurice Ravel's "Bolero" are part of the program of this year's Summer Festival "Opera of the Peaks – Belogradchik Rocks”, which continues until August 15.

This is the sixth edition of the festival, hosted by the town of Belogradchik, famous for its natural phenomenon - The Belogradchik Rocks. "Opera of the Peaks" is one of the avant-garde ideas of Academician Plamen Kartalov, head of the Sofia Opera and Ballet. Some of the remarkable festivals he has organised in Sofia are “Opera in the Square”, “Opera in the Park” and his latest project - "Muses of Water", which has taken place at Lake Pancharevo near Sofia. His innovative stage solutions are often linked to opera performances among beautiful natural scenery.
