PM Stefan Yanev: Fires are under control, victims are to receive support

The fires have been contained but this should not calm us down, as the risk exists, Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev said. Answering criticism that this country sent firefighters and equipment to the Republic of North Macedonia when the situation in Bulgaria was still alarming, he said the decision was dictated by the fact that the fire could have spread near the border, which has already happened.

The people affected by fires will receive support, the Prime Minister also said. Municipal authorities will have to assess the damages.
