Migrant pressure at the Bulgaria-Turkey border slightly decreases

In the beginning of September, migrant flow slightly decreased as compared to the previous month, announced Bulgaria’s caretaker Premier Stefan Yanev after the sitting of the Security Council at the Council of Ministers. The centers for accommodation of refugees are operating at 70%-75% occupancy. The occupancy rate of the refugee centers is high, because it takes at least one month to process the documents and establish the identity of the immigrants.

According to Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Interior Boyko Rashkov, the current migrant flow is four times lower than the one during the migrant crisis in 2015. However, the number of migrants entering Bulgaria this year is six times higher as compared to 2020, BGNES reported.
