Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov is among the nominees for the most prestigious literary award in Italy "Premio Strega Europeo". His novel "Time Shelter" is among the five finalists in the category of translated books. Gospodinov competes with authors such as Romanian writer Anna Blandiana and "Goncourt" winner Hervé Le Tellier. A review in the newspaper "la Repubblica" defines the Bulgarian writer as "Proust coming from the East".
The Strega Award will be presented at a ceremony on October 17 at the Turin International Book Fair. This has been Georgi Gospodinov’s second nomination for the prestigious award. The first came in 2014 for his novel “The Physics of Sorrow”.
