"It is unlikely that there will be a serious deterioration of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Russia or a break in diplomatic relations," Russia‘Ambassador to Bulgaria Eleonora Mitrofanova said in an interview for RIA Novosti news agency and voiced hopes that the unjustified declaration of diplomats as persona non grata would end.

According to Russia’s Ambassador to Sofia, it is entirely possible for Bulgaria to sign a long-term contract for supplies of Russian gas, if this country‘s authorities take pragmatic approach and show political will. Currently, however, such issues are not being discussed, because Bulgaria is governed by a caretaker cabinet.
