Conducting the national census in Bulgaria faced with difficulties amidst pandemic

74.8% of the Bulgarian population was counted 5 days before the end of the National Census campaign, said the director of the National Statistical Institute Sergei Tsvetarski.
By October 4, the enumerators have reported 2 million 771 thousand people, as nearly 4 million 404 were electronically enumerated. In Northwestern Bulgaria the process is in the most advanced phase and there already over 85% of the population has been counted.
In the big cities - Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, the lag is significant. The reason for this is that many enumerators have refused to participate in the process due to the worsening of the epidemic situation. Thus, another 600 enumerators are currently demanded for the capital to go around 1,300 areas.
