The Council of Ministers have adopted a decision to extend the extraordinary epidemic situation in Bulgaria to March 31, 2022. The goal is to limit the spread of Covid-19. All regions of the country are affected by the virus. In 93% of them the 14-day morbidity is over 500 per 100,000 people and in 8 of them the level exceeds 1,000 per 100,000 people. A significant rise in morbidity is observed among children and young people (aged 20-29). The number of hospitalized people has also been growing, the government press center reported.

The vaccination coverage in the country is 25.53% and is far below the EU target of 70% of vaccinated adult population. Over 85% of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 are nonvaccinated.
