The events in Bulgaria during the year have proved that democracy is deeply rooted in Bulgarian society. It is vital and strong enough to oppose corruption and authoritarianism and people are ready to stand up for their civil rights. This was what President Rumen Radev said at the Summit for Democracy at the invitation of US President Joe Biden.

President Radev pointed out that through the protests in the summer of 2020 civic society in Bulgaria rejected the compromised model of governing the country and this has led to the emergence of new political parties that have won the trust of citizens.
