BIA: The pandemic continues to worsen Bulgaria's business climate

Photo: Archive

A study of the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) for the country's business climate shows that in 2021 the negative trend of 2020 trigged by the Covid crisis continues. Only 9% of the respondents see an improvement in the business environment, and 19% of the participants in the survey report an improvement in the condition of the companies.

The main obstacles for companies are the lack of working capital - 79%, bureaucracy and regulatory burden - 73%, and frequently changing regulations - 57%. Another remaining problem is the lack of skilled manpower for 67% of companies. The gray economy, illegal imports and unfair competition are problems for 44% of businesses.
60% of companies report a decrease in sales.
