San Stefano Gallery in Sofia hosts an exhibition dedicated to sculptor Assen Peikov

Bulgarian sculptor Assen Peikov, whose name is associated with the impressive nine-meter tall figure of Leonardo da Vinci, erected in 1960 in the Fiumicino Airport in Rome, will be presented with a major exhibition at the San Stefano Gallery in Sofia. 

The exhibition "Assen Peikov di Roma (Assen Peikov of Rome)" will be unveiled on December 15. It will include 50 impressive works of the renowned Bulgarian artist - portraits of plaster and bronze, reliefs and a self-portrait. Assen Peikov (1908 - 1973) is famous in Bulgaria, Italy and all across Europe. He graduated from the National Academy of Arts with a gold medal. Assen Peikov studied in the classes of renowned sculptor Professor Andrey Nikolov. He left Bulgaria at the age of thirty and settled in Italy, where he became one of the leading figures of Italian sculpture.
