Bulgaria's Justice Minister Nadezhda Yordanova has called on the members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to "step aside or back" and allow those next to continue judicial reform.

"I think it is time to stop closing our eyes and to see personal accountability," the minister told the members of the SJC. According to the law, Yordanova appeared before the council as its chairperson for the first time.

The Minister was welcomed by the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev with flowers. He wished her "health, success and joint work with the judiciary in the name of Bulgarian citizens." "I want you to take responsibility whenever you need to. And, I hope we will be able to discuss the conditions for your resignation," Yordanova replied.
