Bulgaria is the only EU country that has not taken anti-crisis measures in the film industry sphere, a survey of the Observatory of Cultural Economics (OCE) shows.
The number of people employed in the film industry has decreased by nearly 400 people- back to the 2016 levels. The added value has seen a five-fold decrease. In addition, Bulgaria's film industry has failed to absorb its subsidy for film projects and is to return nearly EUR 5.5 million to the state budget. That is why OCE experts define 2021 as zero year for Bulgarian cinema.
