Bulgaria's Minister of Sports Radostin Vassilev has asked the Minister of Defense Stefan Yanevfor  military equipment with which to urgently send an additional electricity generator to the mountain sports base Belmeken. Since January 11, due to interrupted electricity supply caused by the heavy snowfall, the complex has been heated by a diesel generator.

190 athletes and coaches, including foreigners, are now stranded at the base, but continue to train, despite the lack of hot water.

The military officers are expected to reach the base and deliver the necessary equipment on January 16th.

The Belmeken base is located at 2,050 metres above sea level between the Rhodope Mountains and Rila Mountain near the Belmeken Dam. The nearest settlement is Velingrad.
