John Malkovich to stage plays at the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov"

American film actor, producer and director of Croatian descent John Malkovich is to stage plays at the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov", Marius Donkin, head of Bulgaria’s largest theater troupe, announced during today's sitting of the National Assembly Committee on Culture and the Media. Malkovich is expected to join the team of the National Theater in 2024, BTA reported.

In 1984, Malkovich made his film debut in "Places in the Heart". He was nominated for an Oscar for best male supporting role. In 1994 he was again nominated for an Oscar for his role in "In the Line of Fire" (1993), again in the same category. He is a laureate of 3 Golden Globe Awards and a number of other awards.
