“There are encouraging signs for the launch of direct Sofia-New York flights on the basis of the interest of more than 50,000 potential passengers a year,” declared Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect, operator of Sofia Airport, addressing the offsite meeting of the Tourism Committee which took place at Sofia Airport.

Jesus Caballero added that launching a new line is a long process and takes two to four years.

Sofia Airport currently operates more than 80 international destinations but it has the potential for many more.

The first targets of the airport are the principal hubs in Europe and the world, as well as the launch of long, transcontinental flights – to the US, Canada and India, Jesus Caballero stated.
