18.3% is the mortality rate among Covid-19 patients treated in hospitals in the country in 2021, compared to 11% in 2020, according to the hospital index.

155,422 patients with coronavirus were hospitalized in 215 medical establishments in Bulgaria last year, a little over 16,000 were treated in intensive care units.

The average incidence rate is down to 1,675 per 100,000 residents, 14-day data of the National Centre of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases show, compared to 1,703 during the previous 2 weeks.

Even though the peak of the 5th wave appears to be passing and the incidence rate is expected to decline, all areas of the country are still in the dark-red zone. Under the pandemic plan, eating and drinking establishments shall continue to work until 10 PM and at 50% capacity, the rotation model of learning for older pupils will continue and, where possible, so will work from home.
