Magistrates from specialized courts object to proposed reform

Liquidating specialized jurisdiction is not judicial reform, it sows suspicion of illicit objectives that have nothing to do with public expectations, the Specialized Criminal Court and the Specialized Criminal Court of Appeal state in a written position sent to Minister of Justice Nadezhda Yordanova.

Regarding the public debate on the planned amendments to the Judicial System Act and the Penal Procedure Code, the magistrates from the specialized courts say that the motives and the partial assessment accompanying the proposals are based on erroneous statistics, at times tens of times lower than actual figures, and on manipulative interpretation. It runs counter to the assertions in the European mechanisms and European Commission reports. The interference in the judiciary is based on untruths and is not acceptable, the position reads.
