RUSSIA-UKRAINE CONFLICT

Bulgarian ship crew stranded in Ukraine call for urgent evacuation

The Bulgarian crew of the Maltese-flagged ship Rozhen are stranded on their vessel as result of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. The crew of 17 Bulgarians are trapped in the Ukrainian port of Chernomorsk. They cannot go out to sea because there is a submerged ship blocking their way.

Crew member Boris Kontrov told BGNES that he wanted to be evacuated together with another Bulgarian because they were afraid for their lives.

There is high probability of Russian strikes against the port, says Koltrov, since there is a Ukrainian air defense system deployed near the ship. He calls on Bulgarian authorities to take measures and evacuate the crew of the Rozhen quickly.
