The annual inflation rate in Bulgaria soars to 10% in February

The annual inflation rate in Bulgaria accelerated for the 12th consecutive month to 10% in February, from 9.1% in the previous month, data of the National Statistical Institute indicate. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased with 1.4%, amid soaring prices of food and transport.

“We haven't ascertained any serious price distortions. As for the price of sunflower oil, more than 350 inspections were caried out in retail establishments within 3 or 4 days”, Dimitar Margaritov, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Commission, said for the BNR. In his view, there are no grounds for concern and called on Bulgarians to buy wisely.
