Sofia Central Railway Station hosts temporary refugee crisis center

90% of the refugees arriving from Ukraine are mothers with children, Sofia Regional Governor Ivan Kyuchukov said. A temporary crisis center is already operating at the Sofia Central Station to support asylum seekers.

"We have enough supplies of food and water, we have provided medical care and the opportunity to test for Covid-19," Kyuchukov said. The center also has three minibuses that would transport Ukrainian citizens to the airport, to accommodation places, or to the Refugee Agency if refugees wished to register and obtain refugee status. The temporary center is designed for a short stay. Last night it housed the first 36 people who leave the country today.
