Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev has called changes in the Judiciary Act, envisaging the closure of the specialized court and prosecutor's office, a "legal prematurity". The prosecutor criticised Minister of Justice Nadezhda Yordanova and “Yes, Bulgaria” leader Hristo Ivanov for drafting the changes in the dark and invited them to a public debate. In response, Nadezhda Yordanova recalled that the changes in the judicial law had passed through public discussion. She called for the main debates to take place at today's sitting of the parliamentary legal committee.

Commenting on the visit of European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi to Sofia, Ivan Geshev said that he had nothing to worry about. "The only thing that worries me is the constant violations of the rule of law and attacks on the separation of powers coming from politicians. This has been raising the worries of our European partners," he said.
