Bulgarian Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov and EU Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi met in Sofia to discuss cooperation

Bulgarian Interior Minister Boiko Rashkov held a working meeting with EU European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi to discuss Bulgaria's work on establishing a team of investigators in the Ministry of Interior to cooperate on cases of the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

Ms Kövesi praised the work of the Ministry of Interior and encouraged the investigators to report even more actively and directly cases of serious misuse of EU funds.

Bulgarian delegated prosecutors, who interact effectively with EU prosecutors, were also congratulated for their work.

The partnership between the Ministry of the Interior and the European Public Prosecutor's Office should continue, both sides agreed. Boiko Rashkov presented the Ministry's recently adopted rules regulating the cooperation with the European Public Prosecutor's Office, as well as the ongoing legislative initiative on the Specialized Court and Public Prosecutor's Office. The rules are expected to improve the process of investigating organized crime cases.
