In order to help its partners from the Tuzlovski Lagoon National Nature Park in Ukraine, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds have launched a fund-raising campaign. The aim is to provide basic necessities, medicines and equipment.
The park management is one of the Ukrainian partners in the “LIFE for Safe Flight” project, which is responsible for the management and protection of one of the most valuable natural coastal areas in Ukraine – an area where thousands of birds nest. Under the project, they play a leading role in activities in Ukraine, aimed at combating poaching and monitoring wintering birds. Among the team's staff is Bessarabian Bulgarian Dr. Ivan Rusev, a prominent ornithologist and environmentalist who has worked for decades to protect Ukraine's biodiversity.
