On the 100th day of his inauguration, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov addressed the Bulgarian citizens. "On the day we swore in, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission proposed a huge increase in the price of gas and electricity, and electricity prices on world markets began to rise," he said. The Prime Minister pointed out that for 100 days the Cabinet has kept electricity prices for household consumers at last summer's levels, and in April will continue huge financial support for businesses with a new higher ceiling.
In his statement, Kiril Petkov also focused on overcoming the Covid crisis, providing assistance to those fleeing the war in Ukraine and concluding technical issues on the Recovery and Sustainability Plan.
"In the field of corruption, the fight is difficult - in reality we do not have a working prosecutor's office and the steps are slower," he said. He also pointed to the strong opposition the government has met in its work in the public interest. "We are glad that the change is coming, albeit in smaller steps than we want, but it goes in the right direction," concluded Kiril Petkov.
