Hurricane-force winds peaking at 160 km/h caused huge damages in the town of Vratsa (Northwestern Bulgaria) and the nearby villages. The crisis headquarters of the Municipality of Vratsa declared partial state of emergency. Gale force winds uprooted trees and damaged facades of buildings and commercial premises. Partial power outage also occurred. The strong wind left 13 villages in Pazardzhik region, as well as the sporting facility at Belmeken without power.
The emergency teams of the Sofia Municipality received more than 120 signals about fallen branches, trees and metal sheets. The residential districts located in the southern part of the capital city Sofia were most affected by the strong wind. A large tree fell on a tramway track on Ovcha Kupel Avenue. No people were reported injured during the accidents.
