Democratic Bulgaria, which is part of the ruling coalition in the country, is not happy with the decision by the parliamentary foreign policy committee, according to which Bulgaria shall only supply Ukraine with “technical assistance for defence purposes”.

“It is important that we render Ukraine military and technical assistance, or we shall simply be burying our heads in the sand,” Democratic Bulgaria MP Atanas Slavov said for the BNR.

On Tuesday, Democratic Bulgaria co-chairman Hristo Ivanov requested that the ruling coalition council convene to discuss the matter. Once again, the majority in parliament voted to reject any discussion of the three proposals submitted, two of which by the opposition, for approving a decision to render Ukraine military aid. The Bulgarian Socialist Party, also part of the ruling coalition, is categorically against.
