The Sofia Municipal Council confirmed its decision to place the Ukrainian flag on top of the Sofia Municipality building. With the votes of GERB-SDS and Democratic Bulgaria, the opinion of the Sofia regional governor Ivan Kyuchukov that the initial decisions of the council had been illegal, was rejected.

Municipal councilors reaffirmed two other decisions - to name the alley in front of the Russian embassy in Sofia "Heroes of Ukraine" while the nearby green space will have the name "Boris Nemtsov" after the Russian opposition leader and Putin's opponent, who was assassinated seven years ago.
