"Sending military aid to Ukraine requires political but also social unity. There are many extreme opinions in the public sphere on the subject. I think it is time to turn this public energy into real action!" This is what Bulgaria's Prime Minister Kirill Petkov wrote on Facebook, announcing a public campaign to raise financial resources to be provided to the Ukrainian government.
According to him, until a political consensus is reached on the issue of providing military assistance, every citizen is free to choose to help Ukraine financially "for the purchase of ammunition."
"I call on every Bulgarian citizen who really wants to help Ukraine to donate a salary like me. It is easy to say words, the deeds are difficult, it is time for Facebook posts to become funds for Ukraine," said Prime Minister Petkov.
