In Prague, Presidents of Bulgaria and the Czech Republic Rumen Radev and Milos Zeman strongly condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Bulgarian Head of State said that this aggression requires a united response within NATO and the EU, it also calls for a deep and decisive transformation of the Alliance, and for a new strategic concept with a focus on the eastern flank, BTA reports.

According to Radev, sanctions against Russia must be effective, but they must not be allowed to damage economic and social systems. He pointed out that an embargo on Russian oil would have a negative effect on Bulgaria’s economy.

Zeman told the media that the Czech Republic fully supports Bulgaria's entry into the Schengen area.
