Integration of the Western Balkans is of strategic importance for the EU, says Speaker of Italian Chamber of Deputies

The enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans is of strategic importance for the EU. This is what Roberto Fico, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, said in the Bulgarian National Assembly.

Mr. Fico is on an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament Nikola Minchev

The talks focused on the importance of the construction of the transport Corridor 8 and and connecting the Adriatic Sea with the Black Sea through Albania, North Macedonia and Bulgaria.

According to Roberto Fico, after the adoption of the post pandemic Recovery Plan for Europe, a new recovery plan will be needed - for the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
