Kristalina Georgieva supports Bulgaria joining the Eurozone

Answering whether Bulgaria should join the eurozone, I would first ask if there was anyone in Bulgaria who wants the currency board lifted, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva said.

"I have not seen sociological surveys that show the currency board should be lifted and that we should remain without the protection it provides. And since we are in this currency board and our currency is pegged to the euro, it is much better to participate in the formation of policies that affect our country,” Georgieva said. She predicts that in 2023 inflation will be contained.

Georgieva was awarded the title of "Doctor Honoris Causa" at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia.
