The European integration process of the Republic of North Macedonia should be sustainable and build on its achievements in meeting the EU membership criteria. This is what Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said at a meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Olivér Várhelyi, who is visiting Bulgaria.

Radev stressed that Bulgaria expects results in the bilateral dialogue with its south-western neighbour, including the provision of constitutional guarantees for respecting the rights of the Macedonian Bulgarians and actual actions to eradicate hate speech, preserve the centuries-old Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage, and implement the bilateral agreement on friendship, good neighbourliness and cooperation.

"Bulgaria is open to dialogue with the Republic of North Macedonia and with European institutions and partners in the search for sustainable solutions," the President said.
