On June 10, 2022, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) officially opened accession talks with Bulgaria, approving a roadmap with the parameters, stages and conditions of the accession process. This took place during the annual meeting of the OECD Council at the Ministerial Level, held in Paris on June 9 and June 10, 2022.
Bulgaria received an invitation for start of accession talks on January 25, 2022 and the next day Prime Minister Kiril Petkov confirmed the readiness of this country for start of the process. Bulgaria officially expressed its desire to receive the status of a member of the OECD back in 2007.
