Zero VAT on bread and flour until July next year - this is the final decision of the National Assembly in the state budget update.

The proposal to reduce VAT on oil, fruit and vegetables from 20 to 9 per cent was rejected. The excise duty on tobacco products will not be raised, MPs also agreed. This means that the prices of cigarettes and e-cigarette liquids will not rise and the state treasury will lose BGN 100 million (EUR 51 million).
MPs are also due to vote on the budget's basic framework at second reading, according to which the deficit will be maintained at a ratio of 4.1% and the debt limit will be raised to BGN 10.3bn (EUR 5.2bn).
