NSI: A 50% rise in tourism for June

In June 2022, the numbers of Bulgarians travelling abroad and of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria increased by about 50% compared to June 2021, the National Statistical Institute said.
The trips of Bulgarians abroad in June were 680,600 or 48.4% higher than those recorded in 2021. Last month the country was visited by 1.132 million foreign nationals, or 52.4% more than in the same month a year earlier.
Travel by Bulgarians abroad is approaching the record levels of the summer of 2019 - before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
The largest share of trips by Bulgarians is for holidays and excursions - 41.2%. Most Bulgarians visited Greece 176.700. Most international arrivals to Bulgaria are from the EU - 591,800 or 52.3% of all visitors.
