Businesses worried there is no plan how to comply with EU recommendations to cut gas usage by 15%

Bulgarian enterprises say they are worried how the country plans to comply with the EU’s recommendations to cut down on natural gas consumption by 15%.

According to Bulgarian Industrial Association estimates, this means reducing consumption during the coming winter by around 475 million cubic metres. Businesses with a continuous production process are particularly worried. The government has not said exactly how the reduction is going to take place as yet, or whether it will affect all gas consumers in the country. An unforeseen reduction of gas consumption will lead to problems with the performance of contracts already concluded and to a shrinkage of the production of industrial enterprises, the Bulgarian Industrial Association says.
