“The sums the government owes hotel operators under the programme for accommodation and food for Ukrainian refugees have been budgeted for and will be paid out soon,” caretaker Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov said in Burgas. In his words, more than 25,000 refugees from Ukraine have been put up at state-run and private facilities, and 750 Ukrainian citizens have started work under the integration programme.
The Bulgaria for Ukraine portal shows there are currently around 85,500 refugees from Ukraine in Bulgaria. At this stage it is not clear whether the programme of humanitarian aid for Ukrainians will be continued after the end of September.
