The Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector has successfully been connected to Bulgaria’s national and transit gas transmission network.

According to the project company, connecting the infrastructure of the two independent transmission operators for Bulgaria - ICGB and Bulragtransgaz – was carried out between 16 and 17 August near Stara Zagora.

The interconnector is already successfully connected to the operators in the two neighbouring countries, and this means that the physical transmission of gas along the pipeline is technically provided for. After the mandatory non-destructive testing of the interconnector with the Bulgartransgaz network, the section will be buried. With this, all mechanical work will have been completed.
