Partial state of emergency declared in Karlovo due to torrential rain

The amount of precipitation that fell in the town of Karlovo exceeded many times the monthly rainfall volume.The river bed of Stara Reka, the ravines and the manholes cannot absorb the huge quantities of water.

 The mayor of Karlovo Emil Kabaivanov declared a partial state of emergency. A municipal crisis headquarters has been set up. Mayor Kabaivanov told the BNR that houses, shops and basements in the eastern and the southern parts of the town had been flooded. The water level of Stara Reka near Karlovo is rising. The local authorities are trying to cope with the aftermath of the calamity.
