Russia has blocked the adoption of the final declaration of the UN Conference on the Review of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, arguing that the text lacks balance. According to sources close to the talks, Russia objected to the passages concerning the Russian military-occupied nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhie. Opening the forum, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the world is facing a nuclear threat not seen since the height of the Cold War.

The Zaporizhzhia NPP is again connected to the power grid after the dangerous outage and shelling, for which Kyiv blames the Russian military, the Ukrainian company operator "Energoatom" reported, quoted by France Presse. One of the shut-down reactors is again producing electricity for Ukraine's needs and its capacity is gradually increasing.

Meanwhile, the administration of the city of Energodar, close to the power plant, has informed that the situation in the area remains critical. In an open letter, the city's residents urged the leadership of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to force Kyiv to end the strikes. For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to international organizations to force the Russian military to leave the territory of the Zaporizhzhie NPP. An IAEA mission is expected there next week. According to Moscow, there was renewed shelling yesterday near the power plant and shells fell in the area of the storage for radioactive isotopes.

A Ukrainian jet salvo has disabled an important bridge used by Russian occupation forces in the southern part of the Kherson region, Ukraine's Southern Military Command said. It also became clear that the deputy head of the traffic police in the Russian-controlled Ukrainian city of Berdyansk, Alexander Kolesnikov, died following a bomb blast, Reuters reported. The attack on the high-ranking traffic policeman is the latest in a series of show-killings of Russian-backed officials in the occupied regions of Ukraine.
