Drop in foreign tourist numbers is just 20% compared to pre-pandemic 2019: caretaker minister of tourism

1.1 million is the number of foreign tourists who have passed through Burgas airport this season. The tourist industry is gradually springing back to its feet, the drop in numbers compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019 is only 20%, caretaker Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov told BNR-Burgas’ Daniela Kostadinova in Sozopol. The number of German tourists is the same as in previous years, but an increase has been registered on other markets such as Czechia, Israel, Poland, the UK.

With the aim of popularizing tourism in Bulgaria, the Ministry is to announce a competition for best photograph “Wonders of Bulgaria”. Those wishing to take part can send in their photographs of beautiful views of Bulgaria, festivals, or places they found interesting. A jury will select the winners, there will be prizes.
