A speeding van was intercepted by police on Sofia’s ring road and a car chase ensued after the driver failed to stop when the police signaled him to do so.
At the town of Kostinbrod near Sofia the driver slowed down and jumped from the vehicle in an attempt to escape, after which the van hit three parked cars. The 31-year old driver has been detained. More than 40 illegal migrants, who state they are Syrian, have been found to be in the van.
