President Rumen Radev congratulated the caretaker cabinet for curbing inflation. He told journalists that since last night the price of petrol has been lower than 3 leva (1.5 euro) and this is the beginning of a process.

"The reduction of fuel and gas prices by 30% for the next month are real results achieved with effort and hard work. When a government works in the interests of business and people, the results are there," the Head of State further said.

Referring to the discussions at the European level on possible limitation of gas and electricity consumption, Rumen Radev said that as long as there is a caretaker cabinet, there will be no limit over electricity consumption. "Bulgaria is a producer and exporter of electricity and Bulgarians will not stay in the dark," he was adamant. The President attended the opening of the academic year of the Higher School of Telecommunications and Post in Sofia.

The main task of the caretaker cabinet is not to limit consumption and production, but to look for the cheapest raw materials, regardless of where they come from, and to ensure the best conditions for businesses and citizens, who are the poorest in the EU, Rumen Radev said after the event.

Speaking about the government's negotiations with Gazprom, he said, "Gazprom is not a panacea, it is one of the options and they owe us gas supplies." The President clarified that this can only be a solution if the government's conditions for rescheduling supplies throughout the heating season and better prices are met.
