On September 5, a balloon carrying a professional Polish team made an emergency landing in the Balkan Mountain Range, some 4 kilometers away from the village of Lomets, the website troyan21.com reported.

Krzysztof Zapart and Adam Ginalski were trying to break the Polish record for continuous balloon flight by covering the 2000 km distance from Zurich to Varna, but they ran out of helium. They lost contact with the ground team during the descent. The men were found by a local mushroom picker. Bulgarian sudent Hari Velev evacuated the unexpected guests to the village of Lomets by a logging truck. Despite the unexpected landing, the balloon pilots managed to break the old Polish record for long distance balloon flight (1514 kilometers).
