Russia tried to sink the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky

After the defeat at Kharkiv, Russia continues to launch missile strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure. The dam wall of the Ingulets river near Kryvyi Rih was breached with 2 rockets. The Ukrainian authorities have evacuated the population in the affected areas. 112 houses and villas by the river were submerged. The water level dropped at night, UNIAN reports. The lives of 600,000 people in the regional city, which is the birthplace of President Volodymyr Zelensky, are under threat.

“You are weak people fighting against civilians. Your missile strikes against Kryvyi Rih, against the Karachun dam and on objects that have no military value at all are strikes against hundreds of thousands of ordinary civilians. This is another reason for Russia to lose. Not just this war, but history itself. History is written by people, never by savages," commented Zelensky.

Presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych explained that the aim of the attack was to create a tidal wave that would carry away the Ukrainian pontoon bridges over the Ingulets River, but this did not succeed.

On the way back from the liberated city of Izyum, President Volodymyr Zelensky's car got into a road accident, but he was not seriously injured, the spokesman of the Ukrainian head of state, Serhiy Nikiforov, announced on Facebook.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres announced that the prospects for establishing peace in Ukraine are currently minimal. The statement was made after a telephone conversation between Guterres and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
