About 6.6 million Bulgarian citizens have right to vote, regardless of where they live in the world, Rositsa Mateva, vice-president and spokesperson of the Central Election Commission, has told bTV.
The number of voters is close to that of the country's population, according to the official census in 2021. According to Mateva, the census is voluntary, but a person who has been living abroad for years cannot be removed from the electoral rolls.
She indicated that in order to reassure the society that there is no manipulation of the voting machine software, the control receipts from the machines will be counted. Voting will be done with 11,013 machines that required repairs will not be used for voting.
